The State of Happiness and Wellbeing in Singapore

This talk provides a timely and holistic update on the state of happiness and wellbeing in Singapore, drawing upon findings from the nation-wide Quality of Life Survey conducted in 2022. Key aspects of the wellbeing of Singaporeans include life satisfaction and satisfaction with specific life domains, aspects of affective wellbeing and psychological flourishing. The findings shed light on questions such as: “Are Singaporeans happy? Who is happy in Singapore? What makes Singaporeans happy?” While economic prosperity makes it possible for many Singaporeans to enjoy a good standard of living, it is important to consider other factors that contribute to happiness such as the effect of the value orientations of Singaporeans.
